RCUH will be conducting a Workplace Violence Prevention Training session at UH Maui College, Laulima 105 on Tuesday, May 9th. It is strongly recommended that all RCUH staff and supervisors attend this training. These will be 3-hour sessions facilitated by Jerry Trinidad of Action Strategies. Everyone (including Principal Investigators, non-RCUH employees, and supervisors who employ individuals through the RCUH) is welcome to attend. Priority for seating will be given to RCUH employees and supervisors of RCUH employees.
It is the RCUH’s policy to provide a safe work environment for all employees and individuals in the workplace. We maintain a zero tolerance for violence in the workplace. Violators of this policy may be subject to immediate disciplinary action, including possible termination of employment.
The first hour (all employees + supervisors) will focus on creating and maintaining a violence-free workplace and will cover:
- Definition and types of workplace violence
- Where and reasons why violence occurs
- Profiles of the victims and perpetrators
- Warning signs of potential violence and steps to mitigate it
After the first hour, the session will break and non-supervisory employees may be excused. The second two hours (supervisors) will focus on communication skills and conflict resolution.
Please sign up for a training through Employee Self Service (ESS) and search “Maui” (case-sensitive) under “Select Training Island”. If you have any trouble signing up, please feel free to contact Tana Staub at [email protected] or 956-7055. We will definitely be scheduling future sessions in the next several months.
