As previously mentioned in the Current News Article dated Thursday, June 10, 2010, the Group Long Term Disability and Life Insurance policies have changed effective July 1, 2010 as follows:

1)    Long Term Disability Insurance:

The RCUH Group Long Term Disability Insurance will be provided and administered by the Standard Insurance Company (previously administered by the Northwestern Mutual Life).  In addition, the Group Long Term Disability (LTD) maximum monthly benefit will be increased from $10,000 to $15,000. 

2)    Group Life Insurance:

The RCUH Group Life Insurance will be provided and administered by the Standard Insurance Company (previously administered by Pacific Guardian Life).  Additionally, the life insurance benefit increased from “two (2) times annual salary not to exceed $250,000” to “two (2) times annual salary not to exceed $600,000”.  Employees were provided the option to opt down to a lesser benefit during a special “Group Life Insurance Open Enrollment Period” which ended on June 24, 2010.  All elected coverage amounts have been processed. 

MEDEX Travel Assist Benefit – Employees eligible and their family members are automatically provided MEDEX Travel Assist.  MEDEX Travel Assist helps you cope with emergencies when you travel more than 100 miles from home or internationally for trips of up to 180 days.  This benefit also offers non-emergency assistance such as pre-trip assistance, medical assistance services, travel assistance services, legal assistance services, emergency transportation services, and personal security services.  All services must be arranged by MEDEX Assistance Corporation.  No claims for reimbursement will be accepted.  Please refer to the MEDEX Travel Assist brochure for more information. 

Note:  The MEDEX Travel Assist benefit is consistent with the coverage provided by the University of Hawaii.
