Reminder: TIAA Individual Retirement Counseling Sessions

ATTENTION:  Regular-status employees 50-100% FTE

If you are currently participating in RCUH’s Group Retirement Annuity (GRA) and/or Supplemental Retirement Annuity (SRA) plans administered through TIAA OR if you are interested in enrolling into a TIAA SRA plan, the RCUH Human Resources Department is now coordinating one-hour Individual/Employee Retirement Counseling Sessions with TIAA.  During these meetings, you will be able to discuss your personal financial/retirement goals with a TIAA Financial Consultant, on a free and confidential basis.

A TIAA representative will be able to assist you with planning for your retirement goals, including:

  • Setting realistic goals for key life events and retirement
  • Reviewing your investment mix and strategy
  • Selecting your TIAA options
  • Learning about TIAA retirement income flexibility

For employees unfamiliar with the SRA plan, it is considered a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity plan which allows an employee to make contributions via payroll deduction from his/her pre-tax earnings towards an individual retirement plan (i.e., SRA) through our third party administrator, TIAA.  Enrolling or making changes to your SRA election may be done at any time during the year. Accepting Fall 2018 Tuition Reimbursement Applications

RCUH is now accepting applications for Fall 2018 tuition expense reimbursements.   We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible as funding is limited and requests will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that applications are due at the close of business 2 business days prior to the first day of instruction in the applicable semester. For example, UH Manoa’s first day of instruction for Fall 2018 is August 20 – therefore RCUH must receive your COMPLETED application by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15.

Please review the tuition reimbursement policy for details and other eligibility requirements and use the new application form, which is also available in the forms section of the Employee Self-Service portal.

Coming Soon: Attachment B and Position Request Revamp!

Attention all Principal Investigators, Supervisors, Fiscal Administrators and Administrative Staff:

 RCUH will soon complete a revamp of the Attachment B and Position Request processes with a tentative launch date of late July 2018. As a brief overview, the Attachment B form will be moved from the Financial Portal to the Human Resources Portal and will be merged with the Position Request form. In addition, new features have been added to streamline the overall review process.

A training session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17, 2018 via HITS from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon to guide you through the revised process.  We highly encourage users at all access levels to attend.

RCUH 2018-19 Open Enrollment Benefits Confirmation & Flexible Spending Plan Account (FSA) Reminder

  • RCUH 2018-19 Open Enrollment Benefits Confirmation:

The RCUH 2018-19 Benefits Open Enrollment Period has ended.  This reminder is to confirm your benefits for the upcoming plan year.  See attached instructions to check your benefits summary on the Employee Self-Service (ESS) System.  If you find any discrepancies/errors to your originally submitted Open Enrollment benefits election(s)/form(s), you must inform us by June 22, 2018.  This is the ONLY REMINDER provided to you to inform us of any discrepancies.

Instructions to Confirm RCUH 2018-19 Open Enrollment

  • Flexible Spending Plan Account (FSA) Reminder:

There are less than thirty (30) days left to utilize your current Medical Expense & Dependent Care Expense Flexible Spending Accounts.  The current plan year ends on June 30, 2018 and all expenses must be incurred on or before that date.  You have ninety (90) days after June 30, 2018 to claim/submit reimbursements for the plan year (July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018). Unused contributions will be forfeited at the end of the plan year (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Mid-Year Reminder: Check Your Personal Information and Pay Statement in ESS

June is here and this means we’re at the halfway point of 2018!  Please take some time to review and update your personal information on record, as well as check your pay statements to ensure their accuracy.  Please review the following via RCUH Employee Self-Service (ESS):

You may have seen variations in your pay amounts beginning with your February pay statement due to the new tax tables that went into effect.  The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) encourages taxpayers to do a “paycheck checkup” to make sure the right amount of tax is taken out of your pay for your personal situation.  Use the Withholding Calculator on IRS.gov.

To make changes to your Form W-4 Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate and/or update your personal information, please go online to ESS > Payroll and Compensation > W-4 Tax Information.  If you find a discrepancy with any pay and leave hours recorded, please notify your Supervisor and/or Principal Investigator.

Please remember, it is your responsibility to ensure that your information is up-to-date.

TIAA Individual Retirement Counseling Sessions at UH Hilo (June 13-15), UH Manoa (July 10-12)

ATTENTION:  Principal Investigators and all Regular-status employees 50-100% FTE

If you are currently participating in RCUH’s Group Retirement Annuity (GRA) and/or Supplemental Retirement Annuity (SRA) plans administered through TIAA OR if you are interested in enrolling in a SRA plan, the RCUH Human Resources Department is now coordinating one-hour Individual/Employee Retirement Counseling Sessions with TIAA.

We encourage all Principal Investigators to allow their employees to attend the TIAA Counseling Sessions if requested.  All employees must notify PIs if they would like to attend since sessions will be held during business hours. During these meetings, you will be able to discuss your personal financial/retirement goals with a TIAA Financial Consultant, on a free and confidential basis. The representative will be able to assist you with:

  • Setting realistic goals for key life events and retirement
  • Reviewing your investment mix and strategy
  • Selecting your TIAA options
  • Learning about TIAA retirement income flexibility
