RCUH INFO ONLY- July 26-28 and August 23-25: TIAA Individual GRA/SRA Advisory Sessions (Virtual Meetings)

ATTENTION:  Principal Investigators & Regular-Status employees at 50-100% FTE

RCUH is now coordinating one-hour Individual/Employee Retirement (GRA/SRA) Plan Advisory Sessions with TIAA via virtual meetings July 26-28. Regardless of your current status – whether you are a long-time employee, just hired, or somewhere in between – it is never too early or too late to consider retirement planning. During these personalized sessions, you will be able to discuss your personal financial/retirement goals with a TIAA Financial Consultant on a free and confidential basis.

Because these sessions are being held during normal business hours, all employees must notify their PIs and supervisors if they would like to attend. We encourage Principal Investigators to allow their employees to attend the TIAA Advisory Sessions, if requested. 

For employees unfamiliar with the SRA (Supplemental Retirement Annuity) plan, please note that unlike the GRA (Group Retirement Annuity) plan, there is no 12-month waiting period and you may enroll or make changes to your election at any time during the year. The SRA plan with TIAA is considered a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity plan which allows an employee to make contributions via payroll deduction from his/her pre-tax earnings over and above the amount being accumulated under the RCUH basic retirement plan (GRA).

RCUH HR IMPORTANT: Updated 2022 Performance Evaluation Form Available and HR Portal eUpload Feature Forthcoming

Pursuant to 3.410 RCUH 12-Month/Needs Based Performance Evaluations, all Regular-Status employees must receive an Annual Performance Evaluation. The evaluation period is July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, or October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

Overview of changes/updates to the 2022 Performance Evaluation Form:

  • Previous versions of the form were in Microsoft Excel format. The updated form is now a PDF with Adobe electronic signature capabilities in the Employee, Supervisor, Principal Investigator, and RCUH Human Resource sections.
  • Rather than having two different versions (previously referred to as the Short and Long Forms), there is one uniformed, two-page form.
  • Text to fit capabilities in the Employee Performance Narrative section, allowing for more flexibility for additional feedback without text being cut off.

Note: Evaluations completed on previous versions of the form will still be accepted.

Submitting Performance Evaluation Forms: RCUH is working on a new feature that will allow HR Portal users to electronically upload (eUpload) performance evaluations and other documents via the HR Portal. We anticipate that this feature will be available by the first week of August. We highly encourage PIs and Supervisors to use the eUpload function to submit performance evaluations.

Due Date: Performance Evaluations are due Friday, September 16, 2022.

We appreciate your patience as we worked to improve and simplify the form and process. We recognize that this is a change from previous annual performance evaluations and would appreciate any feedback on the modified form and/or process.

RCUH HR IMPORTANT: June 16-30 eTimesheets DUE to RCUH HR by 12noon Friday, July 1st (Expedited payroll processing period due to July 4th holiday)

It is especially important this pay period to ensure all eTimesheets are submitted and approved by the RCUH Payroll deadline on Friday, July 1st by 12noon.  There will be a very short window of opportunity to handle last minute manual adjustments and follow-ups with projects since the RCUH Human Resources Department will need to confirm payroll by close of business the afternoon of Friday, July 1st to ensure employees are paid timely on Thursday, July 7th

Starting at 11am on Friday, July 1st, RCUH HR will start following up with primary and secondary eTimesheet approvers via phone call and email to ensure all submitted eTimesheets are approved and processed.

Effective July 1, 2022, you will be able to view any changes in Benefits you may have made during the RCUH Open Enrollment period. Please log in to the ESS Portal, and open the Benefits tab. You will find your elected Benefits Summary located here. Please keep in mind that any changes to your Benefits are effective July 1, 2022. If you would like to view the changes, enter the date 07/01/2022.

RCUH HR INFORMATION ONLY – ACCEPTING TUITION REIMBURSEMENT APPLICATIONS

RCUH is now accepting tuition reimbursement applications. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible as requests are approved on a first come, first served basis, up to the limit of available funds. Please note that applications are due 2 business days prior to the first day of instruction in the applicable semester. For example, University of Hawaii’s first day of Summer 2022 (2nd Session) starts on July 5th, therefore, COMPLETED applications for the summer semester is due to us no later than Wednesday, June 29, 2022 by 5:00 PM.

RCUH HR INFO ONLY – RCUH 2022 Annual Performance Evaluation

TO:  Principal Investigators and Supervisors

The deadline to submit Annual Performance Evaluations for RCUH employees will be September 16, 2022. It was previously communicated in the May 13th and May 17th HR training sessions that performance reviews were to be due on June 17th, but the deadline has been extended. An updated form will be distributed and posted online in early July, however evaluations completed on previous versions of the form will still be accepted.
