ATTENTION: Principal Investigators (PIs) & Regular-Status employees at 50-100% FTE
RCUH is now coordinating one-hour Individual/Employee Retirement (GRA/SRA) Plan Advisory Sessions with TIAA via virtual meetings September 28-30 and October 25-27. Regardless of your current status – whether you are a long-time employee, just hired, or somewhere in between – it is never too early or too late to consider retirement planning. During these personalized sessions, you will be able to discuss your personal financial/retirement goals with a TIAA Financial Consultant on a free and confidential basis.
Because these sessions are being held during normal business hours, all employees must notify their PIs and supervisors if they would like to attend. We encourage PIs to allow their employees to attend the TIAA Advisory Sessions, if requested.
For employees unfamiliar with the SRA (Supplemental Retirement Annuity) plan, please note that unlike the GRA (Group Retirement Annuity) plan, there is no 12-month waiting period and you may enroll or make changes to your election at any time during the year. The SRA plan with TIAA is considered a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity (TDA) plan which allows an employee to make contributions via payroll deduction from their pre-tax earnings over and above the amount being accumulated under the RCUH basic retirement plan (GRA).
If you have questions or are unable to schedule an appointment online, please call TIAA’s Service and Scheduling Group at (800) 732-8353 Mon-Fri 6am – 1pm Hawai’i Standard Time.
Meetings are accessible for individuals with disabilities. Individuals who require special needs accommodations may request assistance in writing to [email protected] prior to the scheduled meeting.
It is especially important this pay period to ensure your employees’ eTimesheets are submitted and approved by the RCUH Payroll deadline Thursday, September 1st by 12 noon. There will be a very short window of opportunity to handle last minute manual adjustments and follow-ups with projects since the RCUH Human Resources Department will need to confirm payroll by close of business Thursday afternoon, September 1st to ensure employees are paid timely on Wednesday, September 7th.
Starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 1st, RCUH HR will start following up with primary and secondary eTimesheet approvers via phone call and email to ensure all submitted eTimesheets are approved and processed.
Your timeliness and cooperation on this matter are greatly appreciated.
Should you have any questions, please contact the RCUH Payroll Staff at [email protected].
We received feedback that some of you may have had compatibility issues with printing the Performance Evaluation Form. We have revised the properties of our form to save and print correctly. Please use the new form if you intend to print the performance evaluation. Otherwise, there are no additional changes.
This is also a reminder that Performance Evaluations are due Friday, September 16, 2022.
Pursuant to 3.410 RCUH 12-Month/Needs Based Performance Evaluations, all Regular-Status employees must receive an Annual Performance Evaluation. The evaluation period is July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, or October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
Note: Evaluations completed on previous versions of the form will still be accepted.
Submitting Performance Evaluation Forms: HR Portal users are able to electronically upload (eUpload) performance evaluations and other documents via the HR Portal. We highly encourage PIs and Supervisors to use the eUpload function to submit performance evaluations.
We appreciate your patience and feedback as we worked to improve and simplify the form and process. With your help and input, we were able to resolve this issue.
Please contact RCUH Human Resources if you have any questions regarding the Performance Evaluation process at (808) 956-3100 or [email protected].

The electronic upload (eUpload) feature in the HR Portal is now available for project users to upload completed Annual Performance Evaluations. We highly encourage projects to utilize eUpload to submit performance evaluations.
The eUpload feature allows Principal Investigators and project staff to submit requests, upload forms and supporting documentation for employees to RCUH Human Resources. Project users can track the real-time status of their requests and confirm the effective date of their requested change. Our goal for eUpload is to improve and streamline processes in a safe and secure manner via HR Portal. At this moment, the Annual Performance Evaluation Form is the only option available via eUpload. RCUH HR will work on enhancing options to allow for projects to submit other requests via eUpload (e.g., PAFs, reclassifications). Additional information will be announced when available.
Below are the instructions for utilizing the eUpload feature for Annual Performance Evaluation Forms:
Log in to the RCUH Human Resources Portal and click on the eUpload link (left sidebar in the Project eUpload section).
We welcome any feedback and suggestions for the eUpload feature. As a reminder, performance evaluations are due Friday, September 16, 2022. If you are having accessibility issues, RCUH will accept performance evaluations sent via email to [email protected].
Please contact RCUH Human Resources if you have any questions regarding the Performance Evaluation/eUpload process at (808) 956-3100 or [email protected].
