HURRICANE LANE PRECAUTIONS (Employee): Early Submission of Employee Changes – August 23, 2018 12:00 pm
To: RCUH Employees
Hurricane Lane could pose possible disruptions to normal operations early next week; therefore, all employees are urged to submit any Employee Self-Service (ESS) changes and submit change forms (e.g., direct deposit, benefits, etc.) to RCUH HR by 12:00 pm, Thursday, August 23, 2018.
We are encouraging early submissions so we can process all actions well in advance of any unforeseen power failures.

2017-2018 Performance Evaluations Due on September 14, 2018 for October 1, 2018 Pay Adjustments/Awards
TO: All Principal Investigators Who Did Not Turn In Their Employees’ 2017-2018 Performance Evaluations
The RCUH will provide Principal Investigators with a final chance to turn in all employees’ 2018 Annual Performance Evaluations in order to be eligible for the 2018 pay increases/adjustments. The deadline to turn in the Performance Evaluations is September 14, 2018.
RCUH Performance Evaluations:
– Short Form
– Long Form
We will open up the Online Pay Award/Personnel Action Form (PA/PAF) on September 21, 2018 via the Human Resources Portal. The PA/PAF will allow for the following options:
- Pay Increase to Base Salary and/or One-Time Payment effective October 1, 2018
- Retroactive One-Time Payment for the duration of July 1, 2018 through September 30, 2018 (only if a percent increase to base is provided)
All PA/PAF’s must be initiated and approved via the PA/PAF on the Human Resources Portal no later than October 5, 2018.

The purpose of this memo is to provide you with guidance on RCUH’s workers’ compensation insurance coverage and information you need to know if you employ or plan to employ staff outside of Hawai’i.

Hawaiʻi State Ethics Commission Training – Upcoming Classes
The Hawai‘i State Ethics Commission has added additional ethics training classes in 2018 for state employees on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island. These classes provide an overview of the state ethics laws that apply to all state employees. Topics include: Conflicts of Interests, Gifts and the Reporting of Gifts, Confidential Information, Misuse of Official Position, and Post-Employment Restrictions.
Classes are open to all state employees and there is no fee to attend. Online registration for each class will begin approximately one month before the training date. Employees who would like to register for a class are encouraged to check the Commission’s website to see when online registration for the class begins.
